SCED attends 23rd APEC SME Ministerial Meeting in Peru
The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, attended the 23rd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Small and Medium Enterprises Ministerial Meeting (SMEMM) in Lima, Peru today (September 9, Lima time).
During the SMEMM, Mr So briefed the participating ministers and delegations on the growing trend of different sectors working together to explore crossover opportunities in Hong Kong. He also shared details of initiatives supporting cross-industry business matching, which aim to facilitate creative industry development and investment promotion.
Under the meeting's theme, "SMEs as engines of growth and prosperity", participating ministers and delegations focused their discussion on four areas, namely promoting innovation and connectivity for SMEs; strengthening high impact SMEs through digital transformation; integration of Green SMEs in global value chains; and internationalisation of SMEs.
Upon arrival in Lima on September 8 (Lima time), Mr So met with the Chinese Ambassador to Peru, Mr Jia Guide. He also had a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism of Peru, Mr Eduardo Ferreyros Küppers, to discuss commercial and trade matters of mutual concern. During the evening, Mr So attended a welcome dinner for APEC SME ministers.
Mr So will return to Hong Kong on September 11.
