SCED speaks on establishment of ITB
Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, to the media on the establishment of the Innovation and Technology Bureau after attending the Legislative Council Finance Committee meeting today (November 6):
Reporter: Given that the present administration will come to an end within a year and a half, do you think there is little meaning in the final establishment of the bureau?
Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development: I think today is a very significant day. Of course if the filibuster did not happen, this Innovation and Technology Bureau could be established a lot sooner. But we have no time to waste. The bureau will officially be established on November 20. So we will waste no time. I'm sure all my colleagues in the new bureau will waste no time in pushing forward using innovation and technology to enhance and diversify all our industries. I think we should look forward from here onwards. I think today is a very significant day.
