Announcing the appointments, the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, said that Mr Leo Kung Lin-cheng, with his profound commercial experience and being the incumbent Deputy Chairman of the Board of the OPC, was the most suitable candidate for the new chairmanship.

"The Ocean Park is a valuable asset in Hong Kong's tourism portfolio.  On behalf of the Government, I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Dr Allan Zeman for his invaluable contribution to the development of the Ocean Park and the development of Hong Kong's tourism industry in the past 11 years as Chairman of the OPC.

"Under Dr Zeman's outstanding chairmanship, the Ocean Park has developed into a world-class marine-themed park and a proud asset of the Hong Kong people.  The Park's annual attendance soared from 2.95 million in 2002/03 to 7.73 million in 2012/13, winning numerous awards, including Asia's first Applause Award - the highest international accolade in the global theme park industry along the way.  I am sure Dr Zeman will continue to take a loving interest in the development of the Ocean Park amidst his busy schedule.

"I would also like to express the Government's gratitude to the outgoing member, Mr Andrew Leung Chi-kwan, for his invaluable contribution to the Board in the past six years.

"I am confident that the OPC Board will continue to work earnestly on bringing the Park to new heights of development.  The Government looks forward to working closely with the OPC Board in the years to come," said Mr So.

The OPC is a statutory body established under the Ocean Park Corporation Ordinance to manage the Ocean Park as a public recreational and educational park.
