SCED begins visit to Belgium and France

The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, arrived in Brussels, Belgium, on May 28 (Brussels time) to start his six-day duty visit to Belgium and France.

Shortly after his arrival in Brussels, Mr So attended a lunch hosted by the Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and European Affairs, Mr Didier Reynders, and met with the Director-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology of the European Commission, Mr Robert Madelin, to exchange views on issues of mutual concern.

Mr So also paid a courtesy call on the Chinese Ambassador to Belgium, Mr Liao Liqiang. They exchanged views on recent developments in Hong Kong and the Mainland, and on their respective bilateral relations with Belgium.

Mr So then met with the Hong Kong business community in Belgium and board members of the Belgium-Hong Kong Society to listen to their views on operating businesses and working in Belgium and Hong Kong.

On May 29 (Paris time), Mr So will speak at a luncheon in Paris co-organised by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Brussels and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council for political leaders and the business community in France. On the same night, Mr So will attend the ministerial dinner hosted by Norway, the Chair of the 2013 Ministerial Council Meeting of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
