SCED to visit Cambodia, Singapore and Indonesia
The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, will visit Phnom Penh in Cambodia, Singapore, and Jakarta in Indonesia from tomorrow (October 29) to November 2.
The main purposes of Mr So's visit are to promote Hong Kong's economic and trade relations with the three countries by meeting their trade ministers and leaders of business sectors, as well as to lobby relevant authorities for their support of Hong Kong's request to join the China - ASEAN Free Trade Area (CAFTA).
While in Singapore, Mr So will officiate and speak at two major events at the Hong Kong Festival 2012 organised by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO) in Singapore with its partners to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
One of these two major events is a gala dinner on October 30 which will include a preview of performances from the Hong Kong Arts Festival 2013. The other event is a business forum on October 31 on global and regional supply chains with a focus on the complementary roles of Hong Kong and Singapore.
