He was joined by the Head of Create Hong Kong, Mr Jerry Liu; Chairman of Hong Kong Design Centre, Dr Victor Lo; Vice-Chairman of Hong Kong Design Centre, Dr Roy Chung; and Executive Director of Hong Kong Design Centre, Dr Edmund Lee.
"Design is a value creation tool. It can enhance business competitiveness and improve the environment. It has been the Government's policy to promote design as a driving force in propelling the development of Hong Kong as a creative city. With an impressive line-up of signature design events this year, it is an opportune time to brand 2012 as the Hong Kong Design Year to enhance the promotion of Hong Kong design and to reinforce Hong Kong's position as Asia's creative city," Mr So said.
At the event today, renowned local design professionals from different genres shared their experience and award winning works with the audience, showing how design could be applied to enhance business value and quality living. The participating designers were architect Mr Raymond Fung for space design, Mr Tommy Li for branding design, Mr Jason Chiu for new media design, Mr Eric Tang for product design and Mr Karr Yip for space design.
There was also a fashion parade featuring award-winning works of young fashion designers who represent the new generation of local design talent and the enormous potential of Hong Kong design.
