SCED responds to media enquiries
The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, today (July 30) gives the following reply in response to media enquiries of alteration works in his residence:
"In 2005, my wife bought an apartment in Hong Lok Mansion, 44D MacDonnell Road, Hong Kong for self occupation. The building is now more than 50 years old. We had sought the professional advice of an authorised person before refurbishment works of the premises commenced.
In view of media concern earlier about unauthorised works of the properties owned by government officials, I contacted an authorised person in June 2011 to review the building plan.
The relevant plans had been published for a long time and the issue involves construction technicalities. I have engaged an authorised person to look into the matter further.
I shall take appropriate actions as soon as possible if there are areas that need to be followed up."
