SCED to attend meeting of Mainland/Hong Kong Science and Technology Co-operation Committee in Qingdao
The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, will depart for Qingdao tomorrow night (September 10) to attend the ninth meeting of the Mainland/Hong Kong Science and Technology Co-operation Committee.
The meeting, to be co-chaired by Mr So and the Vice-Minister of Science and Technology of the Central People's Government, Dr Cao Jianlin, will be held on September 11. It will review the work progress of the Committee since the eighth meeting and set the work priorities for the coming year with a view to strengthening technological exchange and co-operation between the two sides.
Accompanying Mr So for the meeting will be representatives from the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau, the Innovation and Technology Commission, local universities, the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, a number of local research institutes and Partner State Key Laboratories.
Mr So will return to Hong Kong on September 12. The Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Godfrey Leung, will be the Acting Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development during Mr So's absence.
